Air
Defense Rocket-artillery Units
THE FIRST ECHELON AGAINST AGGRESSION
The
Air Defense rocket-artillery units are designed to defend the units and the
targets on the territory of the Royal Army. They provide firepower for the
whole Air Defense systems and maintain constant combat readiness. As for their training
and equipment, they meet the requirements of contemporary combat operations. The
Air Defense rocket-artillery units are well organized and armed with various
antiaircraft weapon systems, capable of conducting antiaircraft combat
operations in spite of intensive electronic interference, mass use of wing
rockets and other highly accurate combat means, and maintaining them in good
working order. Although these systems do not belong to the new generation
systems, their updating is practically continuous, and only the human factor
and the training of soldiers and officers affect their efficiency. In recent
years the Air Defense rocket-artillery units, as well as the arm as a whole,
have undergone considerable reconstruction regarding their organization,
equipment and tactical employment.

Constant
duties in the air defense systems, dynamic and intensive training,
conditioning of crews and other regular duties take every minute of the
day for
the air defense unit personnel. In individual
and collective training of the whole Air Defense personnel, command and
control
is tested and estimated by the use of automatic and semiautomatic
systems and by
centralized and decentralized fire control on the whole territory.
Training in which today only the measurable parameters are valued and
marked,
coordination, the exchange of data, combination of different artillery
and
rocket systems in one zone, present a new quality. As the Air Defense
units together with the fighter aviation units and the early
warning control and reporting system units make up a unified Air
Defense system,
the changed
condition of conducting air defense operations, required a high
degree of integration in training. It must be done in order to select the
objectives, directions and areas to be defended, and
skillfully combine the Air Defense systems in the selected
directions, and employ all combat operation security measures.
The air defense systems as a whole present today
a respective force, a potential enemy must reckon with. They were and still are
the first echelon in opposing any aggression from the air space and a deterrent
force against aggression.
